Studio Profile / 01
Distant Signal
A small, distributed team building games we actually want to play.
Who we are
Distant Signal started as three people in three time zones who were tired of watching the RTS genre get gentrified into mobile autobattlers. We wanted a strategy game that felt tactile, asymmetric, and a little bit dangerous to play.
Now we are a lean, fully-remote studio spread across the UK, EU, and Australia. No offices. No investors breathing down our necks. Just a shared belief that the best games come from teams small enough to argue over design docs but stubborn enough to ship anyway.
Browser-native
We believe the best multiplayer experiences should not require a 40 GB download. Bio-Op runs in any modern browser with zero install.
Built for depth
No gacha. No energy systems. No pay-to-win. Just two wildly different factions, a living map, and the Spore doing its own thing underneath.
Community-first
We run our beta in public, publish our devlog openly, and build features the community actually votes for. No NDA theatre.
Remote by design
Talent over geography. We hire the right person, not the right postcode. Async-first, transparent, and allergic to unnecessary meetings.
Our only game right now
Bio-Op is our debut title. It has consumed every waking hour since 2024 and we are not even close to done with it. The Closed Alpha is live with invited testers. Closed Beta opens summer 2026. Full launch is planned for 2027.
Work with us
We do not have open roles right now, but we always want to hear from exceptional people. If you are a gameplay programmer, VFX artist, or sound designer who lives for RTS games, send us your portfolio.
